“I have to reflect my background as a son of the manse; creation is a phrase that appears often in the Bible. With my background, if I reflect on the term ‘creation’, I think of the world around me and observe that it is at once familiar and amazing. It’s familiar because I have always known it in its various forms but it’s amazing because, as you get to know it, the diversity of ‘creation’ is truly remarkable. It is possible to go through life and look around creation without much wonder and to regard it as mundane. On the other hand, life is enriched by the sense of wonder in what has been created and this surely leads to an increase in imagination which, in its own turn, leads on to further creativity from the observer.”
