Tolbooth Music and Arts Venue

Tolbooth Music and Arts Venue

The Tolbooth is Stirling’s venue for music and the arts situated in the historic Top of the Town. We offer opportunities for all ages, from a wide variety of weekly classes in music and the arts for children, young people and adults; to tailored education projects; to an acclaimed programme of music throughout the year from jazz to pop, traditional to world, americana to classical, electronica to indie as well as nights for young emerging bands. There’s something for everyone.

Courses, classes and workshops for children and young people include fiddle, guitar, jazz, traditional music, sound recording, ceramics, painting, drama, music photography, electronica, songwriting and band development among others.

Examples of projects in Stirling primary and secondary schools include facilitating young people to hold events like the Inter-Schools Battle of the Bands, to large scale projects involving professional musicians, composers and visual artists, to supporting a primary school choir to record in the studio. Possibilities are broad, exciting and rewarding for all who take part, pupils, teachers, musicians, artists and Tolbooth staff.

The Tolbooth also houses Stirling’s contemporary art space, the Changing Room. The Changing Room not only brings emerging and established artistic talent of international standing to Stirling but provides a crucial forum for vocational training and peer support for locally-based artists and young people to explore, develop and challenge their ideas and experience of art.

The Tolbooth and Changing Room work together on collaborative projects involving schools and communities.
